Two new features have been released in RC8 of the UNIXy Varnish Cache Plugin.
Notably Slashdot survival which helps a server cope with a high traffic spike against an article or page. Registering a page or URL with in the Slashdot table forces Varnish to cache the page for all visitors. It essentially strips out the page of all cookies and keeps a copy of this page in memory.
The other feature is the inclusion of the Modsecurity security in Varnish VCL. This feature is disabled by default but with one click it can be enabled. The security rules protect against SQL injection, XSS, trojans, malformed requests, malicious attempts, and much much more!
